Welcome to The Speights Family Website.

David and Joy Speights have been living and working in Thailand since January, 1986. We have lived all over Thailand during these past 35+ years.

We have 3 sons and 2 daughters who have all grown up here in Thailand.  Joy grew up as a missionary kid in S. Korea so she has lived most of her life in Asia.

   Overview of Speights' in Thailand

Thailand is officially called the Kingdom of Thailand and was formerly known as Siam.  It is located at the center of Southeast Asia. It is bordered to the north by Burma and Laos, to the east by Laos and Cambodia, to the south by the Gulf of Thailand and Malaysia, and to the west by the Andaman Sea and the southern extremity of Burma.

Thailand has a prevalence of Buddhism that ranks among the highest in the world. According to the last census (2000) 94.6% of the total population are Buddhists. Muslims are the second largest religious group in Thailand at 4.6%.  Christians represent only 0.5% of the population.  Statistically, it appears that Christianity in Thailand may be growing at a slower rate than population growth.
