You may have seen the news that on May 22 the elected government of Thailand was overthrown by a military coup. Since that time the government has been led by a committee of military leaders called the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO). Thailand has a long history of many military coups through the years so most people here see it as “business as usual”.
So far we are still completely free to minister and share the gospel without any restrictions. Please pray that we will continue to have these freedoms.
In other (bad) news; Thailand has recently been given the worst ranking possible for allowing human trafficking and gross human rights abuses. The annual Trafficking in Persons report stated that, "Thailand is a source, destination, and transit country for men, women, and children subjected to forced labour and sex trafficking.” Physical slavery is a clear indicator of a deeper spiritual slavery that affects all of us.
The Bible makes it clear that Jesus came to free people from the bondage of captivity. People around the world experience political oppression and/or physical slavery. But we are ALL in need of deliverance from our own bondage to sin and death.
The majority of people in Thailand still have no idea that Jesus can set them free from the slavery of sin. Please pray that we will have continued freedom to share the good news of deliverance in Jesus Christ with the people of Thailand.
Yours for Thailand
